Movies you need to watch if you haven't part 1

Alright, guys this one’s gonna need to be quick. You have a lot of watching to do. I feel like there is often an unspoken rule amongst movie lovers of must-watch films. You know, the ones you hear about growing up: The God Father, Schindler's List, Shrek 3. But at times it can be hard to just devote 2-3 hours to watch these movies, especially if you’re watching with someone who might not be on the same level of interest as you.

So where do we start? Of all of the possible movies that are out there, how the heck do you even begin to crank into all the possible movies. Lucky for you, here at Kanga has broken it down into four categories: Critically acclaimed, Quality of actor, Nostalgia, and Sports. Now we are no movie experts but we no a good movie when we one. So man up and watch these.

Moneyball (2011)

Directed by Bennett Miller, starring Brad Pitt, and Jonah Hil.

Awards: Nominated for 6 Academy Awards (Hill got screwed)

One of the most underrated sports movies of all time about one of the most underrated sports teams of all time. A movie that shows the ruthlessness that is the major league, and how rich organizations take from the poor. Brad Pitt plays the general manager of the small-market Oakland Athletics and finds Jonah Hill, a finance major from Yale with no baseball experience, and tries to create a baseball team based on statistics and not individuals. Absolute banger that shows you how unfair the world of professional baseball can be but also how the little guys more often than not, can have their moments. Also banger soundtrack

The Social Network (2010)

Directed by David Fincher, Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake

Awards: Won 3 Academy Awards, Nominated 8 times total

“You don’t get to have 500 million friends without making a few enemies.” This story goes into detail about the early start of Facebook to the company becoming the biggest social network of all time. Mark Zuckerberg, a loner Harvard student, is brought on by members of the rowing team to create a social network for Harvard students? Did Zuckerberg make millions off of someone else's idea? Who knows but this is one of those films that stick with you and you’ll always throw on for ten minutes if you can’t find anything else to watch. If you though Mark Zuckerberg was nuts before watching this, you’ll have a whole lot of other thoughts after.

Interstellar (2014)

Directed by Christopher Nolan, Starring Matthew McConaughey, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway

Awards: Won 1 Oscar

Alright, alright, alright. The ultimate space cowboy McConaughey going to save all of the human race in space? Talk about a bad ass plot to even begin with. McConaughey crushes this roll and makes you feel the emotions that are inter-dimensional space travel. The coolest part? All of the space travel is backed by legit science and has been accredited by multiple people within the scientific community. This movie will blow your mind and the visuals are out of this world. Oh yea, and it’s directed by one of the GOAT’s.

Fight Club (1999)

Directed by David Fincher, Starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton

Awards: Got screwed but won 1 Academy Award

You’ve all heard about this movie. Going into this movie, you think you probably have a general idea of what is going to happen: “Don’t talk about fight club”, something involving soap, etc, etc. Boy does this movie play some mind games on you. I don’t want to go into too much detail but you’ll be listening to The Pixies for weeks to come after you finish watching.

I could go on and on about a million movies but I figured this is a well rounded list of movies that you need to watch if you haven’t. We will probably be doing more in the future. Reach out to us and let us know what you think. Connor and I would love to hear from you.

Don’t let me go, Murph.
