Football is over...Now what??

Football is over...Now what??

I can’t believe it. This really cannot be true. Football is officially gone. 207 days until College Football starts again and 212 until NFL.

For those like me, you spend every fall basking in the glory of weekly football. Wednesday MACtion, Thursday Night NFL, a couple random Friday night games, CFB Saturday, NFL on Sunday, and Monday Night football after that. I didn’t even realize how much of my life I truly spent watching football in the fall. 6/7 days of the week, averaging around 5 hours a day I watch football. What the hell do we do now?

It’s a daunting realization that we are going to have to go without football for the next 7 months, but we will be fine. You may think that nothing good comes out of the offseason but there are so many things to be excited about.

  1. We will lose less money.

Yes, the NBA is here for the next 5 months, but luckily I don’t bet on the NBA. Maybe we can finally get away from betting tails on a coin toss (sorry to everyone who tailed our pick) and start doing better things with the money. Investing maybe? I’ve been hearing Dogecoin is going straight to Jupiter.

     2. You just freed up 6 days a week, maybe we can get productive.

Scientific research I’m completely making up for the sake of this blog shows that male college students tend to have better grades in the spring. Coincidence? Definitely not. Read a book, hell even start that self-paced course you completely forgot about until you read this sentence.

     3. Outdoor drinking is back.

You heard me right, soon enough we can finally give a good middle finger to cold weather and get back outside to drink. We can all agree that it’s just better to drink when it’s nice and warm outside. Beer die, boat days, golf drinking, outdoor bars- the list goes on.

4.*COVID SZN may be coming to a close*

Now this one is coming with a very big asterisk because who knows when COVID is going to actually end, but it looks like the end is near. Vaccines are rolling out, cities are starting to slowly open up. Maybe come fall we could be blasted at a real tailgate with more than 10-20 people at it.

When life gives you lemons, you smash that lemon and turn it into a Mikes Hard Lemonade, and when life takes away football, you take back some of your glorious free time.
